Very new user - please excuse if I'm doing something really stupid.

I deleted the old safari icon from my dock and dragged the icon from the app folder to the trash.

I then installed the new safari, and dragged its icon to the dock.

Now, when i click on the icon in the dock, it launches the old version of Safari, but if I click on it from the app folder, it launches the new version.

I've removed the icon from the dock several times and dragged it again from the apps folder. But when I launch from the dock, it still launches the old version.

Any help suggestions greatly appreciated.

Delete the old version by making sure the old version is in the trash then empty the trash.

Go and drag the old version out of the dock. When you launch the new Safari from your Applications folder it'll show up in the dock. Now just set it to "Keep in Dock".
