Suddenly tonight Mail.app won't get mail from my mac.com account. When it tries to do so I get a message that reads "Mailbox name not specified," then it tells me "IMAP command LOGIN failed with status: Authentication failed." When i click OK, it asks me to type in my password, but doing that just brings up the same warning. Clicking cancel gets rid of the warning, but doesn't check the account. Any suggestions about what's going on

Happening to me too, I suspect Apple's doing some backstage VooDoo to iTools in preparation for an update mb?

Same problem last evening, but all is well today. Still cannot send mail over account in Mail.app. No obvious changes to iDisk or iTools. Maybe the mail server system was down for a while...

I had the same problem. The iTools account password somehow got corrupted, and wouldn't reset in it's prefs panel. It fixed itself when I entered the correct password and hit the remember radio button available in the noted error dialog box.

Sounds like it might be an IMAP problem. Might want to set your mac.com as a POP account until they get the system sorted out.

Whatever problem there was on the night of the first message is now fixed. At the time not only could I not get on my mac.com account, I couldn't get into iDisk either. Anyway, things are ok now.
