I'm about to order a Dual 1.8 BTO with the Radeon 9600 pro. What I would like to know is if apple does update the powermac line while my powermac is being built, do I get an upgrade or do I get stuck with the "old" powermac line.
Thank You
(go easy on me, english isn't my first language)

I believe (but NOT positive) that if Apple releases a new Powermac within 10 days of your invoicing (or receiving, not sure) Powermac you can return it for a refund.

If you're asking will your order automatically be upgraded, I would think it's unlikely.

If you order a BTO you will not be able to exchange it for an upgraded model in the event upgraded models come out in the ten day window. That upgrade policy on applies to stock configurations. I do imagine that if upgraded were shipping immediately you could get an upgrade during the BTO build process, but in order for that to happen you would have to be lucky.

AFAIK, there is no 10-day upgrade policy, period. It's a 10-day price guarantee. It will help you only if Apple then drops the price of the same item you bought.
Generally speaking, though, when new models come out, manufacture of the previous model is discontinued for a week or two before the new one is released. Then all the unfulfilled orders are upgraded. (At least, that's what they've done in the past.)

There is a 10-day return policy but you will most likely be subjected to the 10% re-stocking fee, unless the rep you are speaking to is feeling generous (I have heard cases of people being able to exchange within a few days of a new product release without the fee)
Agreed that it won't work if you get a BTO, because their policy is "no returns on BTO machines."
