Scuse "le nerdiness" of this post, but I knew there were some HP fans here...:

Last night, the new website for this film was launched, and the trailer for it is meant to go up on Apple.com sometime today! www.gobletoffire.com The site is only half finished, but it gives you a preview of what some of the poster art may be like. You darned Americans! You get a GOF preview tonight on ABC after COS is aired. TiVo, anyone?

At the moment, I am listening to the OOTP on my iPod, because I wanted to read it once more before I got my hands on HBP in July. I decided I would download the audio book, so then I could take it slow and absorb everything, as well as get my pronunciations right. It's working wonders, and I am so excited about the new movie and the new book. YAY!

End rant of crazy boy...

Thanks for the tip. Looking forward to see it!

Harry Potter's adventures have probably been amongst the best movies I have seen in the last few years.

I'm not a huge fan of the movies to be honest but should be interesting.

Looks very good. It too is my favorite so far. Lot of firsts and key clues in there. Hopefully they'll get in all the good stuff. Looks like the CG is much improved as well. In fact I think I'll read 4 again tomorrow.

I'm hoping that the 4th movie will be an improvement... 1 & 2 were nauseatingly awful and 3 was merely benign

And yes, I rather like the books

the sea creature looked very CG... the dragon looked awesome!

i like the books but have seen the first movie awhile back. i hope the book is good. OOTP imo was ok but kind of frustrating becuase nothing changed really.

I thought the dragon looked WAAAAY too CG. OOTP seemed to be full of really basic, non dramatic events most of the way through.

I won't be rereading 4 for a while yet... it's not out till November!

The only good thing to come out of these movies was the little freaking girl that looks like a goat with the huge eyebrows punching out that prissy little blonde smeghead. God damn, Another one of these already? Will the kid just grow up already so they can stop making these movies.

I liked the LOTR books, but the movies are just so looooong and drawn out and boooring. I have loved the Star Wars movies, too. Probably as much as the Harry Potter movies.

Hrmn, I just said to my friend:

We should be fjortisar, and go and stakeout the launch of book 6 at book city in july!

We did that when OOTP came out. Boy was that fun, I was on the front of the newspaper though, and I was teased at school...

Woo, can't wait.

The movies are never as good as the books, but they are always cool in their own respects.

And the movies keep getting a cooler style too.

I saw the first one, it was crap.
I avoided the second one for ages.
A few months ago, since people said they got better, I finally relented and watched the second one.
It was crap.

I don't plan on watching three or four.

You're right. 3 is probably the best but they changed things a bit more than I liked. 4 should be better since its not so much a cohesive story as a bunch of events with an elaborate and evil plot in the background.

Hm. I'd say the first was great, second was pretty good, and the third one was awful. Hoping the fourth one will be better again (haven't watched the trailer yet).

Guess it all depends on the images you get from reading the books (assuming you've read them, of course)...

Agreed. Each of the three movies had something about them I found very enjoyable, yet none of them were up to snuff with the books. My little one loves HP, so I imagine we will take her to see HP4 as soon as it comes out. She was very excited to see the trailer.

I thought that the lotr movies were awful, they were just run of the mill 15th century quest movies. and yet they were based on the most popular book ever with the exception of the bible.

No, Emma is NOT 18 yet. The characters are supposed to be about 14 in this movie-though Emma looks a lot older than that!

I'm looking forward to the film-and the next book!

I loved 1+2 and at first, despised 3, because it was so different, and it made the story less of a fantasy, and more of an everyday life sort of setting.

According to the IMDB, she just turned 15 this past April, which, if they've already done the principal photography for the fourth movie yet, would make her 14 in that film.

Daniel Radcliffe is actually almost a year older than her in real life.

Once kids reach puberty, almost ALL girls look older than boys their same age until the boys catch up. Girls physically mature faster than boys...

Yeah, ain't it the truth! My son is about to graduate from high school. Somehow this gawky kid has been going to school with BABES for the last three years!

Honest and for truly, girls didn't look like that when I was in high school! Really! I think the aggregate cup size at my son's school is about "C" while in my school it was "A-B," even with the two girls (it was a small school) who were definitely "DD."

Anyway, I could tell that Emma was going to be a babe when I first saw her. Now that clip of her with her hair up coming down the stairs at Hogwarts just confirms it for everyone.

I'm male and I get assumed to be 17 or 18 while I'm only just 15... I am 6 foot 3 tall though.

I just joined the Leaky Cauldron forums... and somehow, I got the username "Harry" how the hell does that happen?

storer, at 15 I "passed" as 18, and at that point in time that made it possible for me to buy licquor. A thril-once. To quote Ded Bob (google it, you'll be glad you did), "Don't abuse the power." Enjoy what you have without crossing the line.

And I am now unhappy that I never got carded-at 46 it would be nice now and then...

How did you get to be Harry at the Leaky Cauldron? Dumb luck or something "special" about you? Either way, I may register just to see what's up there!

Next step for you will be getting carded for the Senior menu. LOL

We card people at work when their credit card has; Check ID on back.
I'm sometimes amazed at people - my same age (47) who look ALot
older.

And on the HP release; I go to the midnite openings with several
other "old broad" friends (who also work nites).
We love the movies and the books (HP and LOTR) - we just have
a hard time keeping each other awake thru them sometimes.

pssst wake up

Neat to see LOTR come to the screen; they were some of my
favorite books as a kid.

The bad part is that AARP sent me an application last year for some reason-their membership department told me something about their "sources" indicating I was probably eligible because of some sort of demographics collected somewhere. Whatever, I have friends who ARE eligible for AARP membership who have still not been sent an applicaton. I kind of made me feel "special" and not in a good way.

I'm really hoping that the next movie is as good as the first three. While I was not thrilled with changes in the story for Prisoner of Azkaban, I didn't really think about them until well after I'd seen the movie. That says a lot for the script and the director.

Hrmn, I agree about Emma Watson:

Thats some weird teen beauty.
I've been hanging around the fan sites (The Leaky Cauldron) and JK's own site (www.jkrowling.com) and I gotta say, I can't wait for this new book. I think that this time around there will be a lot of information that is missing.

Emma Watson is turning out to be a phenominal actress. I would've nominated her for Best Supporting Actor for Goblet of Fire if her part wasn't so short.

I don't know if there's an award for it, Karen Lindsay-Stewart should've gotten an Oscar for Best Casting Director. Brilliant choice of actors for the parts. Alan Rickman is just absolutely perfect for Snape. Even after Richard Harris died, they got an excellent replacement (forgot his name, the dude from Layer Cake.)

Still, Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite of the movies, but Order of the Pheonix is my favorite book.
