I bought a MacBook Pro last week (Friday) from an Apple Store. With the update imminent, is there any way I can return the current one and get a new one. I know Apple charges a 10% restocking fee. I am wondering if I pay that, can I return my computer to an Apple Store, and get an upgraded machine (I am assuming the upgrade will be worth the restocking fee).
Thank you,
O

I don't know about returning to apple, but... there's gotta be some folks like me who (if had money) would want to pick up a immediately-previous generation MBP at 10% off!

If the new machine is announced within 14 days of when you purchased the older model, Apple usually allows a trade. That's your best bet to avoid restocking, but it relies on the reliability of rumors.
This is why now was probably a bad time to buy a new machine.

Ultimately I cannot complain, as the machine was given to me as a present. But the timing does stink. I am hoping you are correct. Can anyone confirm this "rumor." I am hoping that Apple will help me out.
Peace,

Mine was bought as a gift for me, but from the Apple Store. I am also a student, so my student discount applied.

It was a gift (a mighty expensive one) and you want to trade it in, in effect. I dunno, that could insult the giver.
