I've just installed OS X on a seperate partition to OS 9.1, everytime I boot into X I have to reset the time, then when I boot into 9.1 the time has changed, so I have to reset it to. If I reboot into the same system the time's correct , why does changing the time on one system change the time on the other ?
I've trashed the prefs in 9.1 zapped the pram, no change, what next ?

Make sure that the time zone settings are the same on each system. I am guessing that the time is stored in GMT or something in the PRAM and then it is adjusted on start up.
