Steve's gonna show off the latest Quake 3 on 10.2, the game will freeze during the loading process, he won't be able to force-quit so he's just gonna switch the monitor to the backup G4 and make everything seem alright.

or

Steve's gonna demonstrate his new camera with 10.2, it won't work, and he'll chuck the camera into the crowd with furious anger.

or

Steve's gonna try to synch his iPod with iTunes in 10.2, it's gonna stall, and he'll say something funny like 'Well, you know what it's supposed to do.'

But what would really rock is a demonstration of Doom 3 on 10.2, running on a G5 and DDR-RAM with a prototype GeForce 5.

Actually, he also had a 'blue screen' demonstrating XP.

As for Jaguar:
- IMO, as long as it has 'USB Printer Sharing', then everything else is just icing on the cake.

- A built-in, single connection version of 'Apple Remote Desktop' would be sweet.

that's all i really care about, but we all know they'll introduce atleast one feature that we never even thought about before, but which we will never be able to live without again

if I were writing a list of things to do for the WWDC, this is what I'd write down as my notes.

1) Latest Stuff - talk about recently introduced dvi powerbooks and emacs. ipod stuff. imac success. Photoshop 6. Midnight passed on the clock for OS X. Bluetooth.

2) demo 10.2 and Quicktime 6. Maybe demo id software stuff. Maybe demo new nvidia or ati technology. Other software.

3) Maybe introduce new ibooks (faster, better video card), maybe a new mouse (maybe 2 buttons and scroll wheel, maybe bluetooth wireless), maybe new rackmount server.

4) developpers, developpers, developpers, developpers.

-> save for MWNY: upgraded iMacs, new Powermacs, 10.2, Quicktime 6 (or sooner), DVD Studio Pro 2, another iapp (or sooner).
When you were young and your heart was an open book, you used to say "live and let live."
But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

It was even funnier when MS launched Win95 here in Copenhagen. The same second the presenter clicked on the Start menu the power went out.

Yikes NeoMac .... I HADN'T thought of that one. A free, single user version of ARD would be sweeter than sin. I've had the chance to use ExpertCity a number of times from work and its quite a cool concept and surprisingly useful.

ARD for the masses !!! Hook us up apple !!! What good is a digital hub if we can't run that hub from anywhere ?? How 'bout package it as another iTool ... iRemote, anyone? I think this woud definitely rank in the "once we get it, we'll never be able to live without it again" category..

Oh really? You do realize that 10.1.5 is nowhere to be seen even though it's been ready for weeks.

Perhaps Apple skipped 10.1.5 altogether and is going for a 10.2 release?

They take time to make 10.1.5 a nice update because they do have a lot of time before the release of 10.2 in september
They wouldn't care including new features like anti-aliasing for Carbon apps in 10.1.5 if this was not the case.

Ready for weeks? There are newer builds out than the ones talked about here on MacNN.

How do we know that Jaguar will be Mac OS X 10.2? I think that if Apple are going to charge for it then they will make it version 10.5 instead. Maybe Steve will announce this tomorrow followed by some sarcastic remark about the rumor sites not getting the version number correct. It will probably be 10.2 though...

That what they said about 10.1.4 (or was it 10.1.3?).

Demo only, most of it being overhauled under-the-hood stuff. My guess is nothing unexpected insofar as GUI features -- yet.

I've been thinking for quite a while now that Jaguar will be named 10.5.

I've never heard Steve rail about the rumors sites. I bet he never reads any of them, only hears about them from those below him in the company who check for apple insider info being leaked. Jaguar is 10.2 b/c the apple OS X page says that 10.2, codenamed Jaguar, will be previewed at WWDC.

I am tired of this 10.2/10.5 naming thing... who cares ? what would prevent Apple from charging for the upgrade, event if it's called 10.1.26576 ?

Are you guys really arguing that 10.1.5 is Jaguar? Do you think Apple is hyping WWDC '02 largely on the basis of seeing a "sneak peak" of the next little incremental upgrade?

Come now come now...

Because that's merely a versioning detail. When people talk about Jaguar or 10.2, they're referring to THE NEXT MAJOR POINT RELEASE OF MAC OS X NO MATTER WHAT THE HELL IT'S ACTUALLY CALLED.

Thanks for the links, but I think he was talking about the one where the power went off right as the Start button was being clicked.

Actually, no. The symbol is CET in winter and summer. There are ways to show daylight savings or not in other equivalent symbols, like MET (with MEWT and MEST) but CET doesn't change.
