Hey all,

How's things? I was on the bus the other day and I was watching a dude playing Halo on a 15" 1.25 G4.... I know cuz I asked!

The game play was smooth, the graphics were fine (I am sure it wasn't on the highest settings), it looked great.

I was wondering, as I have the same computer on order, what settings do you guys think he used? For any G4 PB users (with 64 Megs of VRAM), what settings do you use for optimal gaming experience.

....and just to avoid the people who want to post and say "Halo sucks on the Mac, don't buy it, blah blah blah" please don't. This guys gameplay looked just fine!

I have the same machine. Setting I use are.

800x600
Pixel + Vetex + Detailed Objects
2x Sampling
Len Flare - Low
Model Detail Medium

No idea what the hell the FPS are but its runs well, no stuttering around and the graphics are great with the shaders going. You at least get the famous Glaring Visor.

I don't think it was a school bus either (though more possible) when I was in high school and walkman cd players became priced low enough for public school students to have came out, the school system banned them or any electronic devices.

Hey all!

You guys will dig this... where I live in Canada I live in a community that is about 30 miles from the main urban city. We have a commuter train that has plush seats, a cappucino bar with pastries, etc. It costs about $5 US per trip. You get on, have a beverage, read, compute, or sleep and all of a sudden you are downtown. Then you just hop a bus or walk for the short trip to your office, school, etc.

The dude was on a bus, off of this train.

It is outside of Vancouver.... it's not the Go train.

I won't say anything else to shatter the image of American superiority... your beer is bad enough to do that all by itself!

They need a train, since Canada has only 1 road.

That Southpark episode was too funny!

No, we can count fine. It's just hard to count properly when Republican vote counters are paid to discard and hide slips with votes for the Democratic candidate...

Zing!

Um, someone update me briefly...is the upcoming election in the States I hear snippets about here and there a Presidential election? Or some other sort?

Don't laugh at me, I'm sheltered.

We're going to elect a Democrat who will replace Bush in the fall.

For now, we're trying to figure out which Democrat is in the best position to topple Bush.

Or, not. None of the guys in the primaries look very electable to me.

Yes, there is an election on a Tuesday in November in which a president (among many other positions including senators and representatives, judges, and the like) will be chosen.
