I read the New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Straight Dopeā€”all excellent. This is another beauty: Famous Trials: excellently written overviews of famous trials throughout history from the trial of Socrates to Moussaoui of 9 11 fame. Damn Interesting is also, well, damn interesting. I also read The Fallacy Files, Wikipedia and a few blogs.

I'm pretty sure there's a lot more good reading to be had online.

Any recommendations?

I'd especially like to find a website presenting a skeptical inquiry of paranormal phenomena, but don't know where to start.

STRATFOR - Geopolitical intelligence, economic, political, and military strategic forecasting | STRATFOR is always an interesting read and enlightening. The free articles are nice but the frequently-updated sections are subscription-only (I subscribe).

Some may wish to timeline me, but I found it only recently.

gaijinsmash.net

It's the blog of an American living in Kyoto, teaching English to Japanese junior high-schoolers. Go to the archives, start at the beginning, read for three days straight.

Laugh and be horrified.

For some unique perspective:
News From KOREAN CENTRAL NEWS AGENCY of DPRK
http://www.irna.ir/En/ (when their internet connections aren't being hammered)
Pravda.Ru: Russian news and analysis

If you need to kill some time, Welcome to [email protected] is a good way to do it.

You missed some great (inane, and as always, poorly translated) stories: "Dancing Parties of Youth and Students Held", "Information Workers of Trade Union Organizations Tour Area of Mt. Paektu", etc
