I hope this isn't in the wrong forum. I need to buy a CompactFlash reader. Is there a CF reader that has Jag compatible drivers available?

Kodak's USB CF card reader doesn't work. Kodak did release drivers for 10.1 a long time back, but they caused my machine to crash. They then took them off their web site and no longer talk about it.

Looks good. Any confirmation that it works with Jag. Says 10.1.2 or higher, so I assume it works. But we all know what happens when you assume...

I *LOVE* my www.kanguru.com 5-in-1 USB Card Reader. It reads everything and requires no config in jag.

I bought a PQI USB Compact Flash reader from eBuyer in the UK, cost me 5.72 and it works perfectly with no drivers required. The USB cable it comes with is probably worth more than 5.72.

PowerBook users,

SanDisk's PC Card CF Reader is Jaguar compatible (costs only about $10).

That is so wrong. I have a sandisk USB and my father has a microtech USB and neither work. They both did in 10.1.5.

Because sandisk will not release any driver for my cardreader, I went and purchased a Firewire CF card reader from Lexar for <$30 and it works awesomely straight out of the box with no need for any drivers to be installed. Much faster than the USB readers - especially good if you have pictures that are >1MB each.

I have these:

Sandisk bulbous CF reader, and PNY multi-reader (my sisters camera uses SmartMedia, my DV Cam has SD, and My digi cam uses CF)

They both work fine, matter of fact I just took that pic and imported it on both.

Running Jaguar, and didn't need to install any drivers at all.

Actually, the Kodak 3 in 1 USB reader (CF, SmartMedia & SecureDisk) works fine right out of the box with no need for drivers. I paid $34 bucks for it at Wal-Mart. I was worried about this issue too, but it works fine.
I gave up on the Zio! line of readers...their support has been crappy.

Lexar Firewire CF reader. Fastest on the block (duh), and it works fine in OS X.1, OS X.2, & Windows XP, with no extra drivers.

Agreed. I have been using a Lexar FW reader for the last year or so on my PC (plug and play in XP) and iBook (ditto in OSX). Everything transfers in seconds....

Buy the imation FlashGO reader.

Portable (did I mention portable), take all kinds of cards with handy adaptors (compact flash cards work with out adaptors), works without drivers on Windows and Mac. Looks cool.

This was the best buy I have made. I just don't have an excuse to use it right now.
iFinished therefore iBook!
