VST firewire drive mount intermittently then hangs system. I am using a biege G3/300 tower with a Newer Tech G4 450mhz upgrade CPU. Firewire is connected to an Orange Link Firewire/USB PCI board.

Although not a solution, I've encountered similar problems trying to export firewire video using the Orange Micro FW/USB card on a 9500 with a NewerTech G4/400. I talked to a tech at Orange Micro, and they say the G4 card alters the bus speed on the motherboard and confuses the FW card. Their solution was to go into the NewerTech control panel and adjust the bus speed setting (which, btw, results in constant system crashes). I confronted some techs at MacWorld and they also know of this problem and have no solution. oh well...
