Naaah! Its not OW 5 Beta, its OW 4.1 beta 5.
I just downloaded this new OW4.1b5 and it seems stable and quick to me. I have a 500 mhz DP G4 and OW4.1 renders fast on my DP G4.

Actually RAILhead Design put it as OW 5 beta, and I kinda just took it off that without actually looking. Sorry!

Drat! Stuck on this POS Dell here at work again, when something juicy comes out!
So, how does it compare to Sneaky Peek 74?

Does it fix the crash-when-you-close-a-window bug?

It doesn't crash every time I close a window, but it does do so far more often than it should...
Basically, it seems to happen when I have a ton of windows open and I really don't want to open all of them again. But sometimes it happens when I close the only open window.
I'll give beta 5 a try and see if they've finally fixed this yet.

Duh! They are not adding features to OW 4.1 anymore - just getting rid of bugs so they can release the final.

I'm running OmniWeb 4.1b5 now... scrolling seems to be faster. I have never had a problem with any site in any build of OmniWeb, but I don't go to that many sites, mainly VersionTracker and MacNN and an occasional link someone'll throw me.
Not bad, still a little slow at loading pages. I just compiled Mozilla .9.8 for XWindows... man it's quick.

I was thinking the same thing. Been using tabs with mozilla and man I don't wanna go without 'em. Keeps the window clutter to zilch and it is quick switching between tabs. beautiful. I'd love to see other browsers, esp. omniweb, pick up this feature. I really like moz. and ow both. IE is junky but I use it for online purchases. chimera doesn't see any action and won't until it matures (fast approaching, hopefully).

yeah, tabs are great, them and the zippiniess are what moved me over ot mozilla too, which i never was really big on before. the tabs in chimera look much more efficient than the moz ones but like you say chimera's still wlaking aorund without any panties. cute tho.

Where are you seeing this? Is it on certain pages? Is it easily reproduceable? The only time I ever saw this problem was back when Apple had the iMac QT movie on their web page. Otherwise, I never have this problem and I open and close lots of windows during my browsing.

It's not reproducible at all. I can use OmniWeb for a while, happily opening and closing many windows, and it will work fine, until... sooner or later, it will crash right when I close some window. Since others don't seem to be noticing this, I wonder if it could be due to the fact that I have a dual-processor machine. Anyone else in here have a DP machine, and if so, are you noticing this problem?

with some of the earlier versions of ow on os x public beta and 10.0, I had the crash-on-close thing too. dunno why, but just like you describe, it'd close sometimes when I'd close a window.
now that sucker is really stable--I've had one single crash in months of use w/ ow 4.1 [whatever beta].
