Is there one?
I hate itunes interface, its so large and it wastes space. Are there any alternatives that are smaller, or perhaps addons for itunes?

Whamb available at

-freeware and with a little fiddling,
skinable to any size you want.
Always Audion but that's just $30 wasted.

havent tried synergy, but PTHiTunesNotifier pretty much rocks. its customizable too. i think you should definitely give it a shot...

Another vote for Synergy. Just hide iTunes and contol from Synergy. The floater with artwork is a cool bonus.

And here's another vote for Synergy. The best $5 I have ever spent!

i am rather fond of the transparent information box with the autodownloaded album cover
i will probably just spent the $5.
at first i thought all of these little programs that costs $5 or $10 were annoying and a ripoff, but now I am reallying enjoying some of them and wishing that other OS's had the same sort of development of cool little programs.

I can't believe no one here has mentioned X-tunes. X-tunes is the coolest iTunes controller I've ever used, and one of the best freeware items I have. It's up there in greatness with MenuMeters and Brickhouse (another great freeware/donateware utility).
X-tunes controls iTunes by bringing up a transparent window showing the itunes controls using a specified key-combination. It is unintrusive, fast and neat looking. Try it! It's free! It's something I show off to PeeCee weenies to show how cool Macs are.

Another vote for Synergy. Synergy has the floating information window with album art, which is too cool. It also has key commands as well as the menubar controls. It also has the feedback windows that are too cool. The programmer is very responsive to feedback and has frequent updates. I've used the freeware examples above and while very competent aren't better than Synergy. Worth the $5 IMHO

I've been using PTHiTunesNotifier for awhile now, I think it's a great program, and best of all, it's free.
