In BOINC 5.8.17, under the menu Advanced, one can supposedly select a different computer on the local network and control BOINC remotely. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I have three computers on my local wireless net. I've tried typing in the name of the remote computer as it appears on the SETI website; I've tried typing in the name as it appears in the remote computer's Sharing preference, and I've used the login password for the remote computer. BOINC continually tells me it can't find the remote computer. Yet, if I open a window in Finder, select Network, I can login to the remote computer and transfer files with no problem, so I know this computer can "see" the other computers via my local net, but BOINC can't. Both computers are running BOINC 5.8.17.

Try using the other computer's local IP address? ie - 192.168.1.105 or something like that.

Connecting remotely to BOINC requires messing with files. See here:

That's pretty cool, but I wonder if it can be used to remotely control BOINC on a WAN?
