Something really wierd is happening...yesterday I tried to open dashboard with f12, but nothing happened. I clicked on the icon in the bottom and still nothing. I restarted my computer and it still doesnt work...

I know the button is functioning because I can hear that little error sound when I press it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try opening up a terminal, and typing (it's case-sensitive, so make sure you type it right):

killAll Dock

That will restart the Dock and, in turn, Dashboard. Try pressing F12 now, and see if it works.

Good luck,
onlyone-jc.

thanks for your help, but after searching through the forums a bit more i found that I just had to delete a dashboard preferences file, which worked well. Thanks anyways though

hi there,

seems i'm having the same problem. I hit f12 and nothing happens - or i go down to the dashboard icon on my dock and nothing happens.

tried killAll Dock, didn't seem to do anything, and the dashboard problem still persists.

thanks.

Have you tried deleting the Dashboard preference file, like blueleaf did?

com.apple.dashboard.plist and com.apple.dashboard.client.plist in /Library/Preferences/

Good luck,
