so started doing dv on my pbook and was wondering if i should upgrade my hard drive from the stock 4800 60G to a 5600 100G or upgrade my ram from 768 to 1.5G? which would be the most bang for the buck if i can't afford both?

many thanks!

What do you do with your Mac?

i was saying i started doing DV and aside from filling up the internal hard drive (i do have an external) iDVD tends to crash sometimes and i don't know if its lack of ram or lack of scratch disk space.

I use about 10% of my HD for my system in hope that Photoshop will run faster. I just received my second 1 gig chip and find that the files open noticably quicker. You can never have too much memory and it's cheaper than HD upgrades. Rather than upgrading your HD, I'd look at adding an external firewire HD. This way you can create your dv and then back it up on the external.

I'd recommend upgrading RAM and then working on a external FireWire drive...

stuffing feathers up your b*tt doesn't make you a chicken.
