Currently using Dell Inspiron for photo imaging (raw format) and it is soooo slow. Have upgraded my dell to highest spec (2GB memory etc etc) but still slow. Contemplating a powerbook for extra speed but am nervous that I may just be asking too much and being impatient with my photo editing. Is a powerbook THAT much better. Granted my dell has loads of other programs running on it and my powerbook would be solely for photo editing and music. Even loading one image in raw format onto the computer from digicard takes about 2 minutes even before I start editing. Haven't got time to go to London and play around. Really relying on someone who uses a powerbook for professional photo use to give me some good feedback!!

Do I understand that you're loading raw files off the flash card without copying to your hard disk first? That's the problem right there. Always copy to the HD first.
The Powerbook is acceptable using CS2 to process Canon 20D raw files. The most important thing is lots of ram. I'm using a recent 1.5 gHz with 1.5 gigs of ram.
Delkin also has a 32-bit cardbus adapter for copying that helps a lot. It's worth the money.
Good luck.

I am using my 1.33 with 2gig of ram to process my raw files. I use CS2, Lexar 1 gig CF cards and their firewire reader.
