BlackBerry may be releasing another smartphone in the future, this time aimed at budget users, rather than the high-end
Z10 and
Q10 releases. An image, diagram, and some alleged specifications have surfaced for what appears to be titled the R-Series of device, which appears to be a form of successor to the Curve series of mobile phone.
An image on the
BlackBerryOS forum shows a white device with a QWERTY keyboard, using similar raised keys as previous BlackBerry phones. A simplistic diagram
on BlackBerry Empire demonstrates where the SIM and microSD cards would be inserted, though gives little else in the way of clues. Accompanying text describes the phone as having an 1,800mAh battery and an "entry-level" price of between $300 and $400 without a contract. RAM is said to be 8GB, half that of the Q10 and Z10.
The R-series phone, in whatever form it ends up in, could be released before the end of the year.
