After installing Tiger I've had trouble with several apps. Some system and some 3rd party apps.

I launch them, they try to open, then I they just close and I get an "app unexpectedley quit" error.
Apps that are affected.

Safari
Transmit
Disk Utility
mac help

The errors all start with..
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x0000001b

The apps affected don't seem consistant... there must be a common file thats corrupted or something... does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Mark

Now I can add AutoId app to the list of apps crashing.
No one has any ideas? Please... I'm not in a position to do a reinstall right now-any suggestions would be helpful.

I've tried fixing permissions but doens't help.
thanks
Mark

I would look at your fonts. Damaged or missing system fonts can cause these kinds of strange problems. There is a document on Apple's site that tells what fonts are installed by OS X.

All my fonts seem to be in the font folder-how would I even begin to find which one is corrupted? If that's the case?

The helveticanueve font that Apple uses seems to be ok.
ical and address book work ok.

Read the stickied thread at the top of the Mac OS forum:

If you still have problems after that, post a new thread. The above poster has some good advice too.
