I just bought an Airport base station and card today. What can I say? So easy to set up that I don't think I did set it up. I'm walking around the house with my Powerbook and it feels better than a wired connection to my iMac 800.

But check this chain of wires under my desk out. I have a Speedtouch USB connected to a Vigor 2200 router. The router is then connected to my iMac and to the Airport Base Station. And that last piece of hardware sends signals to my Powerbook. All together, three firewalls.

At least I can do my proper work now. I spent too much time on my iMac where I only do general purpose stuff.

If you replaced the router with a Linksys wireless hub, you would have saved about 1/2 the money you spent on the Airport. That's what I did.

The hub has USB in order to connect to my USB DSL modem. It then shares that with ethernet connections.

My fifteen month old started screaming today, like he was scared. He has *never* been scared before so I ran over thinking he might be hurt. He was looking at the Airport base station that I keep hidden under a chair in our living room. I guess he had never seen it before and was freaked out by the blinking lights. It did kinda look like a creepy thing looking out of the dark. He wanted to see it every half hour all day! Hehe!
