How long must this "liberation" charade continue??? I am getting so mad that this happens in the name of the so called "civilised world". The Arab world is indeed getting a very mean message: an Iraqi/Palestinan/Arab life is worth nothing compared to a Yankee life.

This adds further to the disgrace the US has been in Iraq. I'm surprised if Iraqis will ever forgive the US for the atrocities they've made and I wonder if arabs can ever see any western country as anything but a reflection of the US under Bush. Sad, because we are nothing like that.

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Indeed, four more years George Bush and the enormous damage worldwide to the US image is really irreversible (it almost is now). It's gonna haunt them for years to come, but alas ... it's the American civilians' choice

I'm not sure many Americans really care what Iraqis think about them.
Not sure Americans care what anybody thinks about them.
You'll have to work within the confines of that attitude, I suppose, is what I'm trying to say.
At any rate - you can bet your life Iraqis have no opinion whatsoever of Iceland.

I say we pull out and hand everything over to Russia.
Then you'll have something to REALLY complain about.

Simey: ya we realize on what stage this thing is on, but given recent history this isn't so far fetched. Even if it turns out to be untrue this is incredibly bad pr for the occupying US. That is the point so far. I think the US army has already been dished out for the treatment of prisoners in Abu Gharib.

The truth is of no concern! It's the accusations that matter!

The word for such "incredibly bad PR" is propaganda.. That's all you have so far. But of course, the Guardian is happy to run with that, and people who read it will no doubt lap it up.

No it is just bad PR. I don't see how this should be propaganda rather than bad PR. Besides, the US has a bad record when it comes to torturing prisoners. It doesn't really matter if this is true or not. The US is being done a favor to be reminded every once in a while. So it won't repeat itself no?

WOW, since when do you call something the truth when it have nothing factual to base it on?
(can you follow this zimp?)
Deeder your childish attempts at personal attacks are nothing short of being droll. Either get better at it, or stop embarrassing yourself.

If Dan Rather and CBS can do it, then we all can do it.

Shouldn't have started attacking the United States (and now Russia).

I see a problem with that attitude, to be considered the second you start bombing Iraqis, while trying to be their friends.

My bad. I was was speaking in a broader context (i.e. the mess in Iraq) - In the context of this thread, it was a non sequitur. Sorry.

I think the Iraqis find the attitude problematic as well.

I see all these Liberals and Dems getting all bent out of shape because of some "alleged" abuse and some confirmed abuses of Prisoners. I DON'T see them get outraged at the beheadings of INNOCENT people. Sorry but the death of these innocent people SHOULD OUTRAGE them more than some abuses. I doubt the terrorists are treating the captured with any dignity.
