LOL. LeBron James scores 56 points in one game, and his team still loses.

LeBron James got 56 points in one game for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and they still lost...
To the Toronto Raptors no less. Did the rest of the Cavaliers just forget to show up or what?
Toronto: 105
Cleveland: 98
Unfortunately, our Toronto Raptors still suck in the standings...

This isn't that bad. A few years ago, both Kobe Bryant (playing for the Lakers) and Antwon Jamison (playing for the Warriors) each scored 50+ points in a game the Lakers should have won (for one, they had Shaq!), but in the end the Warriors came out with the win. That was horrible.
Also, this LeBron thing (scoring a lot of points while your team loses) happens more often than you think. I mean, it happened to Allen Iverson earlier in the season (scored 51, Philly still lost to Utah).

I'm sorry, I'm still in shock over the Vince Carter trade.
New Jersey:
Vince Carter--> scoring average jumped, what, 10 ppg?
Toronto Raptors:
Eric Williams--> doesn't play
Aaron Williams--> doesn't play
Alonzo Mourning--> paid $10 million to go to Heat
...somehow, it seems like a train wreck, really.

I remember when MJ dropped 63 on the Celtics at the Boston Garden, and the Bulls lost (although it was in double OT). Man what a game.
It can be a beautiful thing to watch.

It's an old strategy: let the star player score as much as he wants, but prevent everyone else.
That's why the Pistons always beat Michael Jordan's Bulls in the late 1980's.

That's exactly what the Raptors said after the game.

Well, I'm still hurtin' about the Stoudamire trade. We had to lose Carter though. People at the Raptors office were being @sses to him, but his response was to be an @ss to the team.

Heh, reminds me of the fresh prince episode where will was the star of the team and scored all the points, then carlton decided to steal the ball at the last minute to be a hero and ended up losing the game anyway.

At least your Raptors aren't on a 5game losing streak with a big road trip coming up and 4 games behind the number 8th seed?!

That's how the Pistons handled Shaq and the Lakers in the Finals last year. That's why they are World Champs.

this strategy is easy to beat but it uses the star player's ego against them. do what michael did during his 6 championships... pass the ball to competant teamates. scottie, ron harper, paxson, b.j armstrong, bill freakin' wennington and etc took turns destroying the competetion when MJ passed to them. triangle offense helped too, thats why shaq got so pissy about the passing.

I still don't see how they were mistreating him. He was pissed off because he didn't want Sam Mitchell to be the coach; well, that's all and good, but last time I checked it wasn't standard practice for players to choose who's going to tell them what to do. He'd been injured and underperforming for the past couple years where did he get those balls at? He wanted Dr. J, who would also be a rookie coach and theoretically no better than Mitchell. On top of that, look at the LAST time they listened to Carter and brought someone in he wanted Hakeem was more of a nightmare for the Raptors.
Seems a bit wonky to me.
