I recently installed OS 9.1 and when my G4 freezes in a game or anyother app, I hit the restart button and it brings up the window as if I pushed the programers button and I can't tpye mac boot or mac shut down. Is this common with 9.1 or did I install it wrong. It is really anyong because I have to do a hard restart by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

Try typing "G FINDER".
I suggest you install Macsbug, which gives MUCH greater control.
Hm... its an interesting problem.
I'll look into it...
I have a feeling this is a sprocket problem (InputSprocket?)
What version of the sprockets do you have?
Got the latest versions of the games? What games and what versions?
Are you using a 3rd party keyboard/mouse/USB driver?

My 2 cents advice : stay away from macsbugs if U don't know what you're doing - this software is for 'power users' - most people would prefer to seek their extensions conflict by themselves.
I love my Mac and I do some tech support, and so far I was able to solve every conflict I've met while repairing a bunch of macintoshes, and without the help of macsbugs.
G Finder is supposed to help you unfreeze the computer and save your documents.... but it doesn't work really often

There's something else you can do. instead of typing g finder (go finder), type:
sm 0 a9f4 <return>
g 0
(those are zeros)

The G option exits the debugger and puts you back where you were when you left. ES quits the active application. RS restarts the computer. File lists all open files. ProcInfo lists all active processes. Vol displays a list of all mounted volumes. For more information, use HELP.
