Oh well, I'd be bitter too if I wasn't going to make the playoffs, it's probably America's fault anyways.

Canadians. Before you get yelled at.

And that's pretty lame to boo someone's anthem. But like Lerk said, good for them.

No, actually it is Canadiens. If you want proof, go look at their official website -- www.canadiens.com

No lamer than the US soldiers raising the Canadian Flag upside-down at the '93 World Series.

Damn you, Canadia! Well, "Canadians" in English, not Franais.

And fans in Detroit booed the canadian anthem (Detroit Pistons btw not Red Wings).

And it's a freaking anthem, who cares? To have the anthem before every freaking sports event makes it completely worthless anyway.

True. And many Americans don't care for our national anthem much besides.

Meh.
Let 'em boo.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one and most of them stink.
As if they are the only people to express their displeasure with the US. Get on with your lives and worry about things that are important.

I'm not going to call an ambulance this time because then you won't learn anything.

Are you refering to the canadians or the babies who are whining about it? I suppose whenever anybody expresses their displeasure with the US it is "petty".

The Canadians of course. And I believe I also made fun of the people boycotting French products as well. So no, not just with the US.

This was indeed, petty.

Petty indeed. And fortunately limited to a small number of miscreants whose lack of class knows no national jurisdiction. To my knowledge, this all began when a number of New York Islanders fans booed the Canadian national anthem during a playoff game against Toronto at Nassau County, Long Island. That episode, misrepresentative as it was of the vast majority of Islanders fans, was broadcast nationally in Canada, and has since inspired a copycat reaction from a similarly small, equally non-representative group of ruffians (though fortunately, not in Toronto, nor in most Canadian cities for that matter).

Try to keep these occurances in context, else by association they'll give true sports fans on either side of the border an undeserved reputation for idiocy.

I'd be upset too if I were a Habs fan...

Heck, I'd be upset if I were a hockey fan in Canada. All the teams are moving to the US, it seems.

Two Canadian teams relocated to the US (Winnipeg and Quebec City). Prior to that one American team (Atlanta) relocated to Canada. "All the teams" indeed! How do you come by such (mis)information?

The only think we're upset about is the fact that we have to wait three more years to administer another thorough smackdown to both American olympic hockey teams.

True, it's only two teams, but the new teams are being established further south (the Wild buck that trend a bit).

Florida having two teams, Carolina one, southern California two, Arizona one, Texas one... I thought this was a COLD WEATHER sport!!

Yeah, well, we'll beat you in basketball and baseball!

But don't get me started about our curling teams... (I don't know anything about them).
