That said, I have encountered one well-built Dell (a Latitude), and they do have great screens and pretty good keyboards. But overall I have to disagree - I'd go for a Toshiba or an IBM in the PC world.
Well, whatever.

I had a 1.2GHz P3 Dell Latitude... Radeon, 384 RAM, XP, DVD, 20GB, etc... and it was awesome. Great battery life too compared to most PC laptops.

Actually, the #'s work out like this:
Celeron 1.3 = 715.3
Cel 1.2 = 760.8

We can assume the extra 100Mhz decreases the time by 45.5 seconds.(760.8-715.3)
So A Cel 1.4 ~ 669.8

P4/1.5 = 714.6
P4/1.8 = 602.7

The Extra 300 Mhz = 111.9 seconds less. Dividing that by 3 = 37.3 seconds per 100 Mhz.

The P4/1.6 ~ 677.3

Advantage to the Celeron is 7.5 seconds. This is assuming there is a linear proportion to the increase in the Mhz to performance, which is not always the case.

In other apps, the De-Celeron does poorly and can't even match the P4 1.5

WinRAR:
Cel 1.3 = 110
Cal 1.2 = 115
Cel 1.4 ~ 105

P4/1.5 = 97
P4/1.8 = 88
P4/1.6 ~ 94

P4/1.6 ~ 11 secs faster

SysMARK 2002:
Cel 1.3 = 113
Cel 1.2 = 106
Cel 1.4 ~ 120

P4/1.5 = 155
P4/1.8 = 179
P4/1.6 ~ 163

P4/1.6 ~ 43 points faster

There is no way that a Celeron is faster than a P4/1.6 in most apps. It's marginally faster in the MPEG2 encoding, but poorer in everything else.

dell and sony make really bad laptops. beautiful (sony) and cheap (dell) but they are very troublesome

IBM will make you the best most lonest lasting and dependable laptop. they are the apple of the intel world. and you would indirectly be supporting apple if they use the 970 in macs.
snappy
