I want to get an external monitor for my MacBook, and I want to get a decent sized LCD display for under $300. Anyone have recommendations?

I wouldn't be doing any gaming or photo/video editing... Just the normal stuff, really. Use the internet and work on school stuff.

I'm a student, so I'm really just looking for the cheapest model I can find that's 20-22 inches and won't break in a week.

I can only recommend Samsung screens, great design, decent prices. I'm tempted to pick one up when I return to Germany.

I got a refurb Dell E207 WFP for $219 straight from Dell. It's a great deal, comes with DVI and VGA cables. Only thing that bugs me is that the height is not adjustable.

I prefer Samsung displays also. Mine is Samsung Syncmaster 740N 17-inch monitor. Cost way under 300 bucks.

This has been said in other threads, but you should consider saving some money and buying a 20" instead of a 22", since the resolution is the same. 22"ers just have larger pixels. It's all up to personal preference though.
I recommend Dell, Samsung, or possibly Viewsonic.

Yeah, that's what I've got, the 225bw. Think I paid $375 for it last year. >_<
The only thing I don't like about it, is the height adjustment locking is controlled by a metal pin...it should be something a little nicer.
