When I plug my iBook's adapter into the wall, it sparks and crackles a bit. This can't be good. :-) Anyone else having this problem?

I'm about to head off to the Apple store.

Schwa-

Absolutely. I see it (and hear it) about two out of every five times I pug it in. It is because of this that I plug in the iBook LAST. No need to subject the 'book to that surge!

I have found that pluging it in "faster" seems to minimize the snap-crackle-pop

Same here! I usually let the grey cable in the wall and just switch between it (desktop) and the plug adapter (elsewhere).

I recently talked to an Apple technician and told him that the charge indication (green/orange LED ring) no longer works on my machine. He said that a chip inside the power adapter is responsible for this and that it might got zapped by a voltage peak.

Probably there is some relation between these issues...

Green = battery fully charged
Orange = charging

on my machine it is always green.

My light went out when my iBook 800 was only 2 days old, I just rotated the plug where it goes into the iBook a little bit and it lit up again (and hasn't gone out since).
