My new macbook which i got less than a week dies again.

i first had problems running adobe cs 2 (extremely slow). having to switch to windows, i saw a lot of isight conflicts with window. after several blue screens of death, i disabled isight in device manager and was happy to be able to work in windows.

but then it died out of no reason in osx. i forced it close and restarted it only to find the mac drive has been unmounted and cannot be mounted or repaired. I have to erase it and reinstall the system.

but it only took less than 24 hours for it to die again and this time i am promted to enter username and password at this Darwin/BSD screen. repairing the partition with disk utility still doesnt help.

could anyone suggest what problems this laptop is having now? shall i give it back and have a new one from apple?

many thanks

I havent had any problems like that so I would definantly take it to an Apple store and have them look at it.

Photoshop CS2 runs slowly in OS X because it's running under Rosetta.
iSight is not supported under Windows. (In fact Windows is not supported at all, even though you can run it.)

Anyways, whose RAM do you have in it? Have you tried the Apple Hardware Test?

yeah i did run hardware test (having found no troubles) and am using apple's memory shipped with the laptop.

i hope its not hardware problems. but it seems macosx is ready to lock up pretty often.

My MacBook never locks up.

I suggest you take your machine in.

If you're only running photoshop I'd also recommend installing more RAM and just using Parallels. It's always going to be safer than having 2 different file systems booting on the same drive.

Is photoshop the only app. you're going to be running? I agree, if that's the case, Parallels might be worth trying.

Yeah, that sounds like a hardware issue. Go download memtest and see how your RAM is performing. If that's not it, could it be from the heat? Are your fans kicking in properly (e.g. around 80 degrees C)?

It's great. Don't want to stir up bad JuJu, but I have not had any significant issues. The only think is a less-than-responsive left-most section of my mouse button.

Memory slipped in just fine!!!
