Maybe this belongs in the stupid movie thread but I was curious who has seen or plans to see the new Sasha Cohen movie.

My vote is no. Cohen's been rehashing his same shtick for too long.

It looked kind of funny until I read the review on kids-in-mind.com.

It sounds like the majority of the movie is him shoving stuff up his or others' asses.

Man, that page just goes on and on.

My kids have asked if they can see it. I think not.

How old are your kids ?

Maybe you should have them read the review, and then discuss why or why not they'd wanna see it.
It could be more constructive than just saying "no".

I wasn't going to see this movie (it looks rather 'unfunny'), however since I read the review from the "but think of the children" website I'll probably have to go see it now.

Some of that is "over the top" which I guess can make it funny and/or amusing.

But some of that is oh mu gosh!! think of the children!!! its just ridiculous culture that is full of shame.

I love that site. This is from their review of the IMAX movie "Aliens of the Deep":
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - In a startling jump scene, a large squid-looking creature swims close to the camera and very fast, and in 3D seems to be swimming straight for the audience. A sub gets too close to a very hot water plume and the people inside talk about the water being so hot that it could melt the glass of the sub. A moon of Jupiter has violent volcanic eruptions. A boy eats a messy hamburger (we see goo on his face).
VIOLENCE!! GORE!!

8 and 10. At this age, I feel fine just saying "it's a grown up movie." Their godfather is gay, and they are pretty much aware of it, so I don't want to talk about how Bruno is making sport of gay people... which I gather is a big part of this movie.

The question is if the movie will spawn a catch-phrase as annoying as "Very nice!"

"One ticket to Washington, please. I have a date with destiny."

Some more gems:
► A man wearing a tight latex suit is shown in a rolling office chair, which is then slammed into another man wearing a tight spandex bodysuit and kneeling backwards; although a small black censor bar covers the actual point of contact, it is implied that there was forcible insertion into the man's anus.
► A man wearing a tight latex suit is shown riding a modified exercise machine equipped with a sex toy of male genitalia, as another man, also in a tight spandex bodysuit, kneels in front of the modified exercise machine (the machine is shown in action, showing that as the man peddles, the sex toy is inserted into what is presumed to be another man's anus; a small black censor box covers the point of contact).
► A man is shown, without pants, with a champagne bottle sticking out of his anus; another man then lifts him (his side bare buttock shown), and pours a glass of champagne from the bottle; this incident is referred to later in the movie when a man suggests that he could perform a similar act with another man. A man's bare buttocks are shown with a remote control sticking out of his anus, and he directs another man to pull it out.

Imagine this movie being released in the States as recently as 1995. I doubt it would've ever been released with an R rating. I doubt it would've even been attempted at all.

Hahah

A man is shown under a very large robot, and what appears to be simulated male genitals are shown on the robot; the man then mentions the resemblance, and states that he is directly under the genitals, using both anatomical and crude names.

A small robot humps the leg of a woman, a man refers to this as perverted and points out that the robot is nude; the woman says that she doesn't mind the action and uses a seductive voice to lure a small robot to her. A woman implies deriving gratification from a car engine.

Etc.

The site is an endless source of hilarity. Like looking up what they consider sexual content in Disney movies. Also, you can search by rating, so if you're looking for an ultra-violent movie, you can search for the "10" ratings.

I love kids-in-mind. In fact, I like them so much I have a paid subscription to their site.

Its purpose isn't to say what you should or shouldn't let your kids watch, its purpose is to inform you of everything that *might* be offensive, and then you can decide if it is appropriate for your own kids. It is intentionally overly detailed so that you can decide for yourself (and your children).

As for Bruno, it's a definite "no" for me.

I'd add an option "why on earth would I want to see it?" Just a thought.

If this is anything at all like Borat, I would feel uncomfortable watching the film. Uncomfortable for the people Sacha puts on the spot on camera. Borat wasn't like Ali G, where he was taking advantage of people who would put up with anything to get free camera time, and Brüno looks a lot like Borat.

I saw Brüno friday night and it was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time! It is properly rated R and parents need to do their job, review the movie before taking kids instead of complaining afterwards...

Anyway Sasha Baren Cohen is very funny and I can't wait to see his next movie!!!
