I have a Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Mouse. All of a sudden, the click sensitivity has gone a bit awry.

Every other click seems to register as a double click, opening unintended items, making it difficult to select text and just plain driving me crazy. The Apple corded Mighty Mouse that came with the system seems to work fine.

I have updated the logitech software, restarted, turned the mouse on and off, etc. No change.

Has anyone else had this problem, heard of it? Any solutions?

Running OS X 10.5.8 on a 3ghz iMac.

Thanks for any help!

I have read about that before, and have noticed this with the white Logitech mouse included with the Logitech S530 Desktop Mac keyboard & mouse combo. After running SteerMouse instead of the Logitech Control Center, the issue is gone.

I have the MX Revolution as well, never had that issue either with SteerMouse nor Logitech Control Center, which I run nowadays under Snow Leopard.

Might your LCC settings have gone nuts without your knowledge?. Have you checked them out?.
Is your MX clean?, if a hair finds its way to the laser hole, the mouse could behave as you have mentioned.

There is a known issue when running Logitech Control Center in 64 bits mode, but AFAIK that refers to Snow Leopard only, or am I mistaken?.

Please note that Logitech Control Center and SteerMouse are not compatible, you can run just one.
I guess the same applies to USB OverDrive.

Well, I uninstalled the logitech control centre and went in to my prefs and deleted any orphaned prefs from the microsoft keyboard I had. then I reinstalled Logitech and restarted. All seemed to be going well, but it is starting again. I did add an application specific customisation, but I do not see how this would affect the clicking.

If I bring my hand right up on top of the mouse and click firmly on the very front of the button it seems to work more consistently, but it is not very comfortable.

Trying to use the mouse without the LCC software installed or any other third party drivers, and the click sensitivity seems unchanged, double clicks when left clicking links in browser, trying to highlight text, etc.

Perhaps a hardware issue?

I have posted this on the Logitech site and it seems there are a couple others with a similar issue.

Not sure what it could be, any chance a Logitech rep could shed some light on the situation?

I have found another post on Logitech's site which points to an unfortunate solution for this problem.

MX Revolution: false double click when setpoint is... - Logitech Forums

Not sure if that is it, but since I have received no response from Logitech, and cannot use the mouse in its current state, looks like I have no choice.

Can anyone recommend a really good mouse that works well for gaming as well as regular illustrator/photoshop work? And one that is not Logitech.

Well, I gave the surgery a try, found a clear bit of broken plastic that looks like it came from the bit that holds the laser in place, which was also cracked. So regardless it looks like I will need a new one sooner rather than later.

I did the operation and it seems to have worked at least temporarily.

Not really having any ill effects from the other broken or cracked parts, still, I would hope for better quality.
