Hi all,
This is my first post, so please be gentle A while back there was a rumor going around that Apple was going to release a digital convergence device (i.e. a box that was like a Mac, but hooked into your TV and speakers, and would play CDs, MP3s, radio, DVDs, etc). It turned out to be false (they released the iPod instead), but the whole thing got me thinking "why not?" So I would like to build this system, but I'm trying to make sure it is possible. They one major snag I'm hitting is that the Mac does stereo sound, but it doesn't do surround sound (as far as I know). Does anyone know how to do this? or do you know of any sites where I could do more research on how to hook up a system like this? Thanks in advance!

The only way I know of to get true surround sound out of a Mac is to use this: http://www.yamaha.com/yec/cavit/ . I've heard that they work rather well.
