I'm curious if any of you listen to audiobooks on your iPod? The other day I went and browsed through http://www.audible.com , and the concept seems cool, but the voices I listened to in some of the sample recordings sounded very mechanical and lifeless. I also did a search for a book by Stephen King that I was interested in, called Christine, but unfortunately it wasn't in their library of titles. Their prices also seem a little steep and I can see a lot of people being put off by that.
I really don't know what to make of http://www.audible.com or audiobooks in general on the iPod. What do others think? Feel free to share your experiences.

Audible is great, but don't buy the books individually from iTunes. It's a much better deal to sign up directly for Audible's monthly program where you get like 2 book downloads each month for something like $20 (I haven't used Audible in a while, but that's the gist of it). Obviously some readers will be better than others. You can also get audio books on CD for free from many libraries.
I believe you can also get $100 off an iPod if you join for a year. It doesn't seem to include the latest models, although it may just be that they haven't updated it yet.

I think it's $21/month now. And you should still get $100 off the purchase of an iPod. You might have to ask Audible about it, though.
