In case anyone know someone at University of Michigan, the entire university system was shut down and completely pulled off the internet. Sunday, just as classes were to begin. UMich is still dark. Here’s the latest statement. To say that it’s thin on details is an understatement.

I'm guessing they were compromised, and seeing a ransomware attack developing in real time. So they pulled the plug, are restoring everything from backups, and applying the 0-day security patches they'd been ignoring.

Nvidia, Toyota, and my company all got hit with ransomware attacks the weekend that Russia first invaded Ukraine. It was a shitshow and during the recovery process we got reinfected at least twice. Super fun times.
