I have a card reader and use it all the time to copy pictures from my digital camera to my Mac. After the pictures are copied to the Mac, I want them deleted from the memory card to free up storage, however, Macs don't instantly delete them and instead put them in the trash folder.

Ideally, when I eject the drive, I would like the trash items in that drive deleted. But that doesnt happen and the only way I can get rid of the them is to Empty Trash. This, obviously, also deletes any items in the Trash folder that have been moved from my Internal Hard Drive to the trash folder- which may not be something I want.

So in short, is there a way to have the Deleted items in the memory card deleted when its ejected?

Use Image Capture to download the pix, you can then delete the pictures on the card using that. This will leave your main trash untouched.
