Just trying to get a feel for how bad my streak is. I might be forgetting some, but I've been on dates with...
a) a girl who had lots of self esteem issues and she couldn't handle the relationship
b) a girl who was okay but I was really not attracted to
c) a girl who likes to make messages in her drink lids with her finger nails
d) a girl with Hep-C who just wanted to be friends and moved to Florida soon after
e) a girl who wanted to wait till marriage to kiss
f) a girl who seemed alright but there didn't seem to be "chemistry" (on her side)
g) a girl who was vegan (okay) but her punk side didn't mix well with me
h) a girl who seemed perfect... and then her family had a serious medical crisis and she couldn't handle the relationship.
So I'm on an 0-8 streak (to the best of my knowledge - there might be another girl in there I don't remember)... any one doing worse?

Um... 1.
I don’t date much.
Edit: Crap, apparently I don’t remember much, either. That should have been 2, not 1.

I think it's around 9.
I don't know. I seem to have slept with most of the girls I've dated. I'm all slutty like that.

Most people I know around here don't very much — I mean, not proper dating. There seems to be some kind of unspoken agreement that it's much less awkward if you just hang out with someone and see if you click. Maybe it's just the circles I run in. I don't know.

I don't get the American concept of "dating". Seems you guys just make every step of the process seem so official.
Chill out, hang with a girl, and don't worry about whether it's "dating" or not or whether you should "take the next step" or whatever it is you do. It's not a formal situation.
(EDIT: This isn't directed at anyone. Just a general observation/comment).

Before I got married the first time, I'd say it was more than 20. For a few years I went through a phase where I only wanted casual relationships, nothing more than a week or two.

I've been in two "real" relationships, with zero "dates" before or in between.

I'm not sure whether to interpret that as "All women love Mac nerds" or "The women who are attracted to Mac nerds tend to be difficult to deal with." Because I've found the latter to be more true than the former (at least as far as I'm concerned).

Are you serious? If so, that girl is probably going to become a spinster. That's basically taking the pseudo-Puritanism of America to a ludicrous extreme.
Americans, as a rule, seem to either be totally chilled out about sex before marriage, or have a real issue with it. I've known more than one in the latter camp, sadly, and all of them have not only had an issue with it, but have felt the need to lecture others on their wicked ways. I'm all for freedom of choice and doing your own thing, but I'm not really cool with some pompous ass telling me that the fact I haven't 'saved myself' means I'm somehow less worthy than they are. However, it's interesting that the ones who don't have an issue with it don't feel the need to preach about how awesome sex before marriage is. Any time I get caught by one of the celibacy crew, it always makes me think that those who preach the loudest have the biggest doubts.
On the topic, however, I don't think you're doing terribly. Personally, I'm pretty similar to Oisín, in that I don't date much, so I'm currently standing at two since my last girlfriend and I broke it off. It's five if you count one-night stands. All in all, just enjoy it, because I bet you'll miss doing it when you finally do get a girlfriend!

I never really got that either. In the UK, the usual way of doing it is getting to know someone and seeing what happens. Sometimes you'll ask a "hawt" random out for a drink or whatever, but most people I know seem to just kind of fall into relationships after starting off hanging out. Coming from that background, I think the American concept of "dating" is absolutely hilarious (and slightly creepy). It's one step down from making the girl/guy sign a contract. "For the next several hours, I will be officially in your company with the intention of ascertaining whether or not a romance will develop."

I never really dated. I tried to go on dates, but always ended up getting in relationships with girls that I went on dates with. I think I have been on fewer dates than I've had girlfriends. (Not counting of course dates with Girlfriends). I would be concerned, but I'm happily married now, and I just need to date my wife.

I'm on my first serious relationships now, before that I just sat in my apartment and waited for the bitches to come to me.
I first thought this question was "How many chicks have you been with out of one friend group"
Which my answer would be, all of them
Course now that I'm taken it's my job to hook my friends up with her friends. That has also been a success.

My friends little sister was one of those people who wouldn't kiss or hold hands until marriage. She was in all sorts of weird religious clubs and she was told that she shouldn't do anything with a man she was dating that she wouldn't feel comfortable doing if she was married to someone else. That was the official line. Crazy.
She's currently 30, unmarried, not seeing anyone and miserable.

The topic confuses me. Is it the most number of people you dated? I don't get "in between". Between serious relationships?

More succinctly: What is your longest streak of dates without finding a girlfriend?

She's not smoking hot or anything, but she's definitely attractive enough to be desirable to most guys. A solid 7.

I met first "real" girlfriend when I was 15. We dated for about a year (and yeah she was my "first time" as well) and then about six months after we broke up I met the girl who ended up being my wife. That was 19 years ago.
Not exactly a "player" huh?

After I broke up with my longtime girlfriend I went on what seemed like endless useless dates with people I just felt meh about. The one or two that I actually really liked didn't feel that way about me. I was about to just kind of settle for someone who seemed good enough, or give up on the concept altogether. And then I met someone I immediately fell in love with, out of the blue.
Just like in the movies.

I had about 20 girlfriends from 14-21, but only about 2 of those lasted for more than a month or two. Only 2 of those were "semi-serious." I just really didn't care to have a relationship.
I started dating the girl who would become my wife at 19. We broke up (this time it was me who was too serious), I went out with some more girls, couldn't stand them because they didn't compare to her, got back together, got married, and two years later I'm at my happiest I've ever been.

I've only had one date that didn't end up in a relationship. I don't really "date" much actually, I just seem to end up in relationships.
