Playing avi wmv and mpegs

hi ive tried installing windows media player on my new pb AND it won't install, a ad for exel comes up. asking me to renew it ... so i cant use that is there another player out there to play wmv and AVI files.. or can anyone help my problem

I'm not sure why you're having problems installing WMP, I've never ever seen an ad for Excel come up. Are you sure you're not using some Office installer..? Go to the WMP url linked in the thread I mentioned earlier and download the installer.

try VLC player, i think it plays AVI files, not sure about WMV, but you can try.

No StuffIt Expander installed. Excel-Trial starting up for the .sitx file.

VLC is great, it plays nearly everything, including WMV
|

^not all WMV files though. So it's not all that great.

You should be aware that WMP for mac does not support avi files (or mpeg). Its sole purpose is to support ASF/WMV files on the mac so that the format can be seen as cross platform.
