All Power Mac G5s have analog and digital input and output. Four jacks, two analog, two optical digital.

Works pretty good too, as analog audio inputs on computers go.

Are these inputs on a G5 suitable for recording voice with a non-powered Microphone? My wife has a regular requirement to record interviews and assignments - I'm hoping that she'll be able to do this on my new G5 (when it arrives).

If the G5 audio inputs aren't sufficient for such a task, should I be looking at something like the Griffin iMic?

Thoughts and opinions appreciated!

Cheers,

WJ.

the input is for self-powered mics only. i had an old guitar amp with a audio out on it. so i just hooked the mic up to that, then ran a cord from the audio out to the powermac. wasn't the most professional setup! but it worked and gave decent sound quality.
