How do i play my games without the disc?

I have a laptop, (MBP 17in) and some games for macox and i am wondering how i can run them without the disc? i dont always have my disc with me, nor do i want to because i loose things easily. i paid $50 for this game (civ 3) and would like to run it when not at home.

Macbook Pro: 17in, 2.16Ghz, 120GB HD, 1.5 GB ram.
iBook G4: 1.07Ghz, 60GB HD, 756mb ram (on sale for parts)

Sometimes you can make a disk image with Disk Utility, and mount that image instead of having the physical disk in there

unfortunately that does not seem to work with this game.

Hmmm...burn a copy of the aforementioned disk image; leave the original disk at home for safety/no worry of losing it; take the copy with you in your laptop bag.
