Which G4 power macs will take a PC power supply?

I know that with a little modification one can put a PC power supply inside a G4 powermac. I know that this had been done quite a bit with the Sawtooth models. Are there any other G4 models that this will work with? I know Apple change their "power" scheme a tad over time, but I just don't remember what they did and what kind of effect it had.

You might have seen my modification to a PC Power Supply for a Quicksilver, I think it's similar or the same for all G4s. What version do you have and would you like me to email you a copy of the PDF I made?

Well I don't have it yet, I am thinking about making my own "franken-mac" and the board I buy will be partially based on compatibility issues with PC power supplies.
Sure the PDF would be great I'll PM you my email address.

That's a very impressive write up! Has that been posted on the web yet, like on sites like xlr8yourmac? I did a search earlier and all I could find was information for the sawtooth ps mod.
Also, I wonder what the digital audio and gigabit ethernet mods look like. Maybe they are the same as sawtooth? I have no idea

Well a Digital Audio should be similar, it just lacks the 4 pin connector for the CPU.
I haven't posted it anywhere except here, I can't remember if I created a thread or just posted about it in the PowerMac forum.

Gig-E has just two extra pins, and if you can live without adc and bus powered firewire you can rig it to run off a standard atx supply. I'm actually running my Gig-E off a modded sawtooth supply.

You guys need to report bugs like this in Feedback. I only ran across this thread by chance.

I only noticed today, I usually browse the forums in a different way.

That is a good reference link. If my Sawtooth PS dies, that link could save a lot of cash & allow a more efficient / quieter PS to be installed. Thanks for posting it.
