To all the OmniGroup guys (if you still hang around), any possibilities of a glimpse of things to come? Or maybe when it will start appearing as sneakypeeks?

I would be happy to be a beta-tester

OmniWeb ETA? Is that a special Basque version that bombs at you more often?
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

I think Omni hasn't even found the pot yet...that's why they're using the "When it's ready" tactic.

Can we at least say we will be playing with a SP before 2003? Maybe an X-mas gift?

Rick,

Back in June you were asked if 5.0 sneakypeeks would be out by "Late Summer". Your response was that this was too soon, but to look for 5.0sp1 "by October."

Well.... "by October" means October 1 to me. But to give you the benefit of the doubt, we'll say Oct 31, so....we only have a week of October left. To be true to your word, please send us a Sneakypeek this weekend! ''

This is exactly why they don't want to give any dates out. If they don't know for sure and give us an estimate and they can't deliver, then we get pissy. We'll get it eventually, and I'm sure it will be cool but not perfect

ps...I want it now, now, now, now!

Actually, that's a good idea, because there is then quite a chance that we'll get a nice surprise when it's released earlier than we expect.

I haven't really been following the OmniWeb story too closely since I jumped on the Chimera bandwagon. Do we have any idea about the features or OW5?

Speed,
Standards compliance,
Resumable downloads,
Some form of "tabbed" browsing,
Some form of archived web page save feature,

and whatever else Omni wants to throw at us but, honestly, what else does it need? Some more witty licence reminders?

Somebody needs to take a look at how iCab handles history. I never use it anymore, but Chimera and Omniweb both lack in the history dept. compared to iCab.

I get a little wistful for the sneakypeeks sometimes, too.

I think they mentioned a better implementation of form auto-fill too, but I think most people are looking for speed/standards compliance.

I am an admitted chimera nightly build addict...the thought of chimera and omniweb 5 sneakypeaks...:o I might have to check myself in to Betty Ford...

Anyway I think they are shooting for sometime between now and before chimera hits 1 and IE hits 6...althought I must admit I would LOVE to get some kinda progress report...

Also I would like to hear if Apple has made progress in speeding up internals in 10.2 to make browsing faster...

Omni people have said repeatedly that it'll be ready when its ready.

They're re-doing the whole rendering engine which takes time in and of itself.

Add potentially major interface changes such as tab-equivalents, and scrap-book like features and you've got a long ways to go before you have anything resembling a useable product.

Give 'em a break and if you like what you've seen thus far, buy a license - the more $ they get the more they can justify spending resources creating OW.

If anything I would rather "hold" (I know how hard this is Rick take your time) them to the "sometime next year" date.
