Hello,
I have received my powerbook yesterday.
I used to be a pc user mainly...

The only word I have to say: Amazing!!!!
Life looks brighter now

Just a fast question. I saw the postings for
the calibration but I have some questions:

manual says:
- during the first week let the powerbook
battery charge to 100% and then
unplug it and use it till it goes to sleep
due to power. Afterwards plug it in and
leave it till it will be back to 100% and
now battery is calibrated, right?

my questions:
1. when I am charging back the battery after draining can I use the computer or I should leave it at the state of the sleep?

2. I have used a bit the computer with and
without the AC. Now on the bar it shows that battery is charged (but it shows 99% instead of 100%). Have I done something bad to the battery? Will the calibration help?

3. does it matter to do it in the first week? Should I do it only once or more?

Thanks in advance!!!!

- In order for the battery to last longer OS X does not fully charge the battery when it's above 95% full -- it will show 99% full. This prevents the battery from prematurely developing a memory effect were it only works for minutes to an hour.

- For the calibration, just let the battery drain like explained and plug it back in until it fully charges. You can work on it normally the important part is to drain the battery.

- You can do it whenever you feel the battery life has substantially decreased. I believe if you do it in the first week the calibration will be more precise because your battery is in optimal shape.

Congrats on the Powerbook. I'm sure you'll love it.

thx!!!

it is really unique!!!

I have just plugged the power out of the computer.

Once it is going to sleep when the battery will drain, I;ll put back the ac adapter and the important thing is that I can work through the recharging proccess right?

Or to put it in another way what is the optimum?

After having it fully charged should I do something? like take it out of power again? or it does not matter?

Thx again.....

Yes, you can work just as usual while it's recharging after it's gone to sleep from draining the battery completely, and that is the "optimal" way as you asked about.

After you've drained it completely, let it fall to sleep, and fully charged it again, that's it, you're done. Just be sure to do this exact same process about once every 3-4 months to keep your battery in optimal condition.
