Hello again,
I have a powerbook that I carry with me
and a linux box always connected at my
home airport extreme base station.
It seems that if I leave the airport extreme
on for a while (20 hours) then it is not
able to deal with DNS traffic (using NAT)
Although every other kind of traffic is
passing through the box.
I have to reset it to get back to normal
and I hate to do this
I have the latest firmware in the base
station. Is someone else expriencing
similar behaviour?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
yes, it is a know problem of AEBS. Look at the Apple website under support->discussions->Airport->Extreme. There is a long thread about the problems of the AEBS, maybe you can find some solutions there.
Greetings...

That's funny, the same thing happens with my linksys wireless router. Sometimes it just seems to lose DNS to both my wired desktop and my airport powerbook. I have to pull the plug on the router to reset it. I was thinking about returning it and getting the apple base station but maybe that won't help apparently.

OMG!! i started a thread here:
http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=161562
it was the same problem! called applecare and they where clueless. it only seems bad on my 17"... i have a 12" PB that seems better.
they weird thing is that it happens with my linksys access point. i've tried a PeeCee on the AE and no problems, must be something with the latest software on the 17"???

Apple's implementation of the DHCP client in OS X is somewhat different from just about everyone else's, so some servers don't quite cooperate properly with the client. The simplest things you can do are to either disconnect and reconnect to restore the DNS data, or manually set your router's IP as the primary DNS source, which will sort of forward your computer to the actual DNS servers.
