all i want to do is run the touch command on each item in the smart folder. What the heck am i doing wrong?

I don't have Tiger, so I can't check this myself, but I'd guess that your wf simply "touch"es the smart folder itself and not its contents.

I believe you're right. I have not tried this with smart folders, but for regular folders, the way you explained it is how it works: you have to drag the actual files, not the folder containing the files.

seems to be a problem with the touch command, if I add a single file to the it errors out with:
An error touch : Zeppelin/Led: Not a directory
|
