I have a 20" iMac, and I'm starting to hear cracking sounds from the computer itself. It isn't from any program. It seems like the case itself is making the cracking sounds. Has anyone experienced this situation? Or perhaps a suggestion or possible answer to this? It's making me nervous.. it sounds like something is going to break or something.

It's hatching.
Didn't you wonder why the case is white?
Seriously, mine makes a sound like the case is settling occasionally. It hasn't caused any problems so far, and I'm inclined not to worry about it. Unless it's severe or happening more than just occasionally...

It is just fine, the front and back covers are loosely assembled and shift from temperature changes. There are three or four screws on the bottom of the display (depending on G5 vs Intel) which when removed allows the front cover to swing upward like a door. With thermal expansion sometimes they shift a little causing the creaking sound.
