I'm excited, yesterday I purchased a 20" Cinema display for my dual 867 G4 machine. In the past I had a 17" Studio (when they were $999), sold it and stuck with my trusty 19" viewsonic CRT for a while. Over time it got a bit blurry though. What's the use in buying this fast hardware if your user experience is heavily impacted by a mediocre display...

I was really going to order a G5 system, but decided I didn't need to upgrade just yet and wanted something that would help me work better without experiencing eyestrain.

Here's a of it. Those of you who have owned cinema displays for a while, do you have any words of advice to give me?

Additional pics can be found here.

CONGRATS!!

That's a beautiful display...makes computing so much better! My only peice of advice is to keep it clean & dust free by using a very soft cloth, and most importantly, ENJOY!

The Viewsonic CRTs were nice for a while, but I feel like mine just got blurrier over time. That and MacOSX being a much more rich UI. Digital is so much clearer, fresher, crisper.

I thought about doing a dual-head steup, but my desk is small as it is. Not to mention it's not comfortable having one inferior, flickering display next to an entirely digital one..

Make sure you download SuperCal from Versiontracker. It's an awesome screen calibrater that gets the job done right unlike Apple's buit in one. My 17" iMac is much improved. More contrast and vibrant colors. The 20" already looks good so I can't imagine how much better it will look..

Not that I'm bitter or anything...

Of course, I did this on my tangerine iMac, which has an absolutely ROCKING 15" crt.

//I suck, but I'm in love with your monitor...

You are so late to the party

Anyway.....you have made a good choice....I am sure you will like it

In the past my eyes felt ultimately sore with the CRT....after I switched to the ACD I can sit in front of it for over 8 hours a day without feeling sore....GREAT!

Haha, tangerine iMac. Keepin it real though.

I'm still looking for someone locally (I'm on Long Island) who is interested in buying my CRT. So far I haven't found anyone.

I've noticed that without the flash, the images my camera takes are very grainy. I've linked those pics up there as an example.

He's just subscribed to a "few" free chick pics mailing lists. I bet he bought the 20" to see the butts and tits in real size

RealMac, if you watch the webcast of WWDC you will hear Steve say that the iSight was built specifically so that you don't have to place it the way you did...

(just jealous of course)

What they should've done is included some kind of mount for the Cinema displays. I moved it off my speaker to the back of my display.

I was hoping for a more elegant solution than the adhesive though. Shrug..

I have one of the 22" cinema displays. Is the image quality on the new cinemas that much better that I should consider upgrading? I've seen the new cinemas in the Apple store, but never side by side with a 22".
