Mail should adopt the column style view, it fits in better with address book, finder, itunes style interface

Yeah, aside from the terrific addition of threading, and the paradigm shift with "In" holding multiple inboxes from multiple accounts, Mail's UI has barely evolved since the initial OS X release.

The three-column view does look smart... (Apple will have to do it a slightly different way, though, just to feel unique. )

You can get this effect now if you fiddle with the MessaveViewer.nib file inside Mail.app. Not recommended if you don't know what you're doing.

Well it takes more then a little fiddling because they have everything in layers and layers of annoying boxes. So you can just use the nib file I made.

1. Locate Mail.app
2. Right click and choose "Show Package Contents"
3. Navigate to Contents/Resources/English.lproj/
4. MAKE A COPY OF MessageViewer.nib. It's not my fault if you screw up your Mail.app. (I.E. rename it to MessageViewer.nib.bak)
5. Move my MesageViewer.nib into that folder.
6. Launch Mail.app. you'll probably have to adjust the splitview to how you like it.

ColumnMessageViewer.zip

Awesome tip! Thanx much.

Now, if I could just get someone to do a hack to show unread messages as bold face instead of that little blue dot, I would truly be a happy camper.
