2006 Civic SI. Very sharp, way to go Honda.
http://automobiles.honda.com/civics/index.aspx

SI model shown will feature a 197hp, 2.0ltr, 16valave DOHC i-VTEC engine.

Great. Now it just needs a 3' tall wing on the back, lowered 4 inches, an unpainted front fascia in primer grey, some gold wheels, a fart pipe, Type R decal, and a sticker on the front windshield that says CIVIC in cursive purple letters.

Then it'll be street worthy in Jacksonville, NC.

I was reading an article on the WSJ today about how Honda needs to overhaul the Civic body design. I like the change

Now, does it come in Hybrid too?

Ha ha. It is beyond my understanding how anyone can think that crap looks cool or good.

The Civic Hybrid is basically a Civic EX sedan with a different powertrain. It would be cool if they made other Civic hybrids, but so far it's just the EX sedan.

My wife wants a CR-V hybrid, which I think would be great, too.

Probably for the same reason that they wear their pants 4" too low, shave their heads, wear gold earrings and a headband, and have a t-shirt with a massive "POLO JEANS" logo.

Satellite-link navigation with Voice Recognition is optional on the EX, Si or Hybrid models.

Mp3 player input jack is standard on all of those as well.

Because some people like different things?

I personally think the whole "riced-out" scene ruined the Civic image for most people. But the ricier the cooler they are to a lot of their peers. What's funny to me is the resale value lost on so many poor Civics. lol

It looks good to me. It lacks the excessive flash found in some other cars, and has more than a little techno-dazzle to it, but the overall style Honda has always gone for is subtle and classy.

Now what other people do to innocent, unsuspecting cars can be a real travesty. Hondas should NEVER be THAT particular shade of orange-you probably know the color I'm talking about. And all the ground effects the kids can affort to buy and install but not paint, the stupid spoilers (hello-FRONT WHEEL DRIVE!!!) and of course the changes to the suspension are simply corruptions of an otherwise perfectly respectable car.

Stock Hondas are generally understated and somewhat cool on their own-not "WOW that's so cool I want to have sex with you" cool, of course, but then I'm kind of picky about that sort of thing anyway.

Yikes! It looks like the Saab designers defected to Japan! Yuck!

olePigeon, my real complaint with the new 'Stang is that they chose the wrong original Mustang to model it on. That looks a lot like the '68 Mustang (they even resurected Steve McQueen to sell it!), but the '66 and '67 were cooler, much cooler.

I looked up Mustangs and I see no improvement/crippling between the '66, '67, and '68 models (they all look like boats to me).

The '66 was really what I'd call the "classic Mustang." In '67 the redesign was pretty major but it still had some of the features in the styling that made it feel like the older models. In '68 the styling moved even farther away from the original though, with the "fastback" roofline getting even stronger. If they'd based the new one on the '66, I'd have been tempted to look into one.

This difference between the UK and US Civic's intrigues me.
What does the current Civic 'TypeR' like like in the US, the EU one is the same as the Japanese version (I am talking stock of course before some idiot has got hold of it).
Does the US not get this shape?

There is a 4 door version, but no 'coupe' of this extended one.

oh and someone needs to edit the oversized '04 stang pic' it's way to wide.

I think it looks fine. Its a reasonable car with decent lines.
The new Civic looks a whole lot better than say a Dodge Neon or a Ford Focus.
I drive a 2004 Honda Accord EX V6 6-speed coupe now, and I'm very happy with it.

I thought the fastback was decent. Woulda been cooler if the fake gasket actually was a real one.

But you're right, the '67 was the best one.

Dodge is copying Ford with the new Charger. I like this new fad. All we need is for Chevy to release a 69 Camaro hybrid (since they've killed the Camaro anyway.)

Motor Trend has awards all 4 models of the 2006 Civic as "Car of the year" there were 28 models up for the award.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/AUTOS/11/22/...end/index.html

"Honda deserves a standing ovation for not playing it safe again," said a statement from Angus MacKenzie, Motor Trend editor-in-chief. "With the sizzling Si, a sleek coupe, an elegant sedan and a Hybrid that averages 50 miles per gallon, each model shines through with what Motor Trend looks for when crowning Car of the Year."

-----

Here is Edmunds "Full Test" of the 06 Si

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=108019

"Our Civic Si went to the test track the same day as a Corvette Z06, a Viper and a Ford GT, yet, it stayed with these high rollers in the slalom, running through the 600-foot cone course at almost 68 mph. That's faster than the Viper and only a hair behind the Corvette's performance. "

I think it looks fantastic, and the HP and interior are freakin' great for the price. This is the first 'affordable' honda design that I'm truly in love with (the coupe anyway). The only other honda that I think was such a striking design was the NSX, but that's $$$$$$$$$. I can see myself getting something like this in a few years, when they're nice and used.

The bad thing with the Si used to be finding one that wasn't riced and beat to death in 2-3 years, hopefully they will sell a lot for us to pick from later

Meh. I don't mind if it's mildly riced. Sell the upgraded parts on ebay, make back more money.
