Has anyone else noticed their fans coming on randomly after upgrading to 10.4.1?

I've noticed as my PB is awake and I'm not using it (only safari left open), that at random times the fans come on for a few minutes then turn off. I didn't actually check to see if spotlight was indexing, but it seems like in 10.4 this didn't happen. It doesn't seem to have changed any power settings, so I'm not sure why it's happening but its rather annoying.

I've noticed a couple of times in 10.4 the fans coming on unexpectedly (not doing anything unusal) and found in Activity Monitor an app using a bunch of CPU cycles (80% - 90%). This happened three times and each time it was a different app. After I would quit the process, things would return to normal. It's not happened in a couple of days.

Since the 10.4 upgrade, the fans in my 1 GHz TiBook have been staying on even when the processor activity is very low. According to top, my machine's CPU was 97% idle for over 15 minutes, and the fan was blowing the whole time.

Howdy,

I am sure this is posted elsewhere, but my 12" PB fan started running like crazy after my Tiger install. I checked Activity Monitor and Virek was hogging CPU cycles. I killed Virek and no more fan problems.

I have noticed this also on my Rev A 12" powerbook. It turns on when I simply run Safari and iChat. Thats all that is running. Weird I tell ya.

I need more RAM though, I am still stock.
