I need to control some remote cameras via my computer. To do so, i'm suppose to use ActiveX (which is a microsoft product). Is there any equivalent or Mac version of ActiveX ?

ActiveX does exist for the Mac, in that IE/Mac can use ActiveX controls. However, said controls have to be written specifically for the Mac, and I'm not sure that even Microsoft ever did anything like that.

This said, are you certain that ActiveX is your only option? Even on Windows you should avoid it if at all possible; is there no other way to control the cameras?

Tell us more about the cameras. I'm sure you can do it.

The remote control software for the cameras is probably an ActiveX control. If that's the case, he's SOL.

There is an ActiveX Mozilla/Firefox extension around, but I would assumme it's Windows only.

It is. It could probably be ported, but it would have the same issues as the functionality in IE/Mac: the controls would have to be Mac-specific. What would they use to test it?

Did you have to revive TWO old threads to ask your question?
