Hey Everyone,
A few times in the last six months (maybe twice) my MBP 2.2Ghz after going to sleep and being re opened would 'wake up' (keyboard light, caps lock, num lock, hard drive noise) but the display woulden't come on and i would have to do a hard restart. After the newest security update yesterday i have noticed the problem every time i wake from sleep. Any ideas or possible fixes?

Have you let it sit there for more than a minute? My display usually came to life after about 45 seconds.

Have you seen any messages in system.log like
Dec 10 03:33:04 ******** kernel[0]: NVDA::setPowerState(0x4737400, 0 -> 2) timed out after 45147 ms

/Applications/Utilities/Console > LOG FILES > system.log and search for NVDA

So there you go.

So next time you get a black display, just give it a minute for the timeout to occur and then you'll see a picture again.

As I mentioned in the other thread the problem stopped appearing on my MBP after I re-installed the 10.5.1 combo update. I don't know why though.

Yeah, it's pretty weird. Anyway, most important thing is the problem's gone.
